About Marion
Art is one of my deepest passions. I find great solace and daily inspiration from creating and sharing art works. I use my love of people, nature and wildlife to depict my thoughts, dreams and emotions. I started formally learning about and practicing art when I attended Arts courses at the University of South Africa (UNISA) (my home country) – and I haven’t stopped learning and creating since.
Mediums
For much of my early art career, I specialised in oil painting and pastels, however, since the discovery of Scratchboarding in 2014, I now favour this unique and unusual medium. As Scratchboarding is so rare, I had to teach myself how to master the techniques. I have also learnt a great deal from the International Society of Scratchboard Artists, a USA-based society of which I am now an active member.
Exhibitions
I have held several successful solo and shared exhibitions in both the UK and New Zealand, and my Scratchboarding was featured in NZ Art magazine. I also undertake private commissions and have sold work to clients in the UK, USA, New Zealand, Australia and Africa.
